Flame-retardant fabrics (also known as fire-resistant or fire-resistant fabrics) can be used to improve safety in a variety of residential, commercial and industrial applications. These fabrics are treated with special flame retardant coatings, and they burn, but at a much slower rate than standard untreated fabrics. Flame resistance is divided into three groups: flame retardant (FR), inherently flame retardant (IFR), and durably flame retardant (DFR).
Flame retardant fabrics are more fire resistant than other fabrics, making them ideal for manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and other environments where such hazards can occur. They are also a good choice if you need materials to meet very specific local, state and federal fire department requirements.
In addition to fire retardancy, these fabrics offer protection against other elements such as UV light and mildew, as well as mold and mildew.
